Very few ever consider the psychological and emotional crutch that smoking has become due to the nicotine dependency. Smokers often light up when they are nervous, feel stressed or feel they need to relax, but what in fact has happened over time, they have lost the ability to cope with practically any situation without a nicotine boost. So just like any other drug withdrawal it takes time for the body to adjust to all the changes that are taking place without the nicotine.
