Causes for Outbreak of Acne
When you walk into your classroom in school, and everyone turns to look at you, it could be for 2 reasons. One, you are wearing something very pretty, or second, you have a scar on your face that is very prominent. Acne is one such skin condition that leaves a mark and affects nearly 30 million people across the world. Acne can be either on their face, neck, chin, back or even in other parts of their body. Those who get affected the most are children and teenagers, while percentage of adults is far lesser.
The sebum that is produced in our body which blocks hair follicles on the skin's surface is what brings in bacteria, which in turns becomes a pimple or a zit. And this is what makes life difficult for the person who has seen it sprout on their forehead for no fault of theirs. For some, acne could be a one time thing, whereas for others, with onset of summer, and winter, they will face acne problems repeatedly. There are some people who are very sensitive to climatic changes, and for them acne becomes a problem every time they visit a country where it is tropical weather.
If parents have suffered from acne, it is very likely that their children will also have the same issues. And in such cases, it becomes difficult for the dermatologist to determine what is the type of acne developed by the person is. There are many cases where the occurrence of acne is hereditary and connected to family history.
Some of the obvious reasons are-
1. Change in Hormone Levels
When teenagers reach puberty, their body goes through changes, and produces the hormone called androgens. These hormones lead to increase in size of the sebaceous glands which is where the sebum originates. When there are changes in this hormone, our body reacts through acne. Most kids go through this phase but will see that acne dies out and vanishes with time. In most cases does not reappear.
In case of girls, when they start menstrual cycles, they feel changes taking place in their body, physical and physiological. During this time, more hormones are generated which at times leads to acne. There are some who get acne around their cycle, otherwise their skin is clear.
2. Climate and Environment
The place a person lives in has a great impact on their health. If the country they live in is humid, they are likely to perspire a lot, and could contract skin diseases including acne. They will have to wash their face, and other parts regularly to prevent germs from setting in. Apart from this, they should also wear comfortable clothes and drink plenty of fluids to flush out the toxins.
3. Helmets
While driving bikes, people wear tight helmets, but if worn for long hours, it could lead to sweat, that might slide to their forehead. And the sweat will have bacteria which would instantly clog the pores and cause acne.
