Bad Breath Symptoms And How To Recognize Them

To most of us, diagnosing bad breath symptoms may seem like an easy task because most of us behave like experts when it comes to self-diagnosis. However, this is not necessarily so in the case of bad breath and we can easily go wrong while analyzing our own bad breath symptoms.

People often cup their hands and blow their breath into them to get a whiff of their breath in order to check if it indeed smells as foul as it seems from the reactions of others but this is not a good measure of bad breath, because a person's body naturally acclimatizes to its own odor and chances are that you may fail to detect bad breath using this method. This is an act of nature and is built into us so that our sensory system can easily recognize external odors.

Here are a few internal and external bad breath symptoms that can indicate you have a problem:

A constantly runny nose
. Nasal drip
Allergies (specially to some types of foods)
Food tasting bad for no apparent reason.
A chronic dry mouth
A sour taste in the mouth.
A white or yellow coating on your tongue.
Some kind of whitish growth on your tonsils.
Friends and strangers turning their heads away from you or dropping subtle hints (such as giving you a piece of gum)
Brushing and flossing regularly fail to have any impact on your bad breath.

If you have experienced any of the aforesaid bad breath symptoms, then there is a good probability that you have bad breath. Your self-confidence could start slipping because of the fact that your friends seem to be avoiding you. On the other hand, if you have answered any of these questions with "I don't know" or "Not sure", then you need to gear up and become more observant to see if any these conditions may be applicable to you.

At the end of the day though, you are the best judge of your own body, and if you come to a point where you feel you may be suffering from bad breath, then you must do something about it. Try out some home-based bad breath remedies for a week or so, and if these remedies fail to work, then the only course left open is to see a dentist.
